Vadapalani Temple
Vadapalani temple, one of the most visited temples in Chennai is located in Andavar Koil Street. This temple gained fame due to the patronage of the film industry as the filmmakers shoot their films in and around Kodambakkam and Vadapalani. Besides it is known as a holy place for wedding. Devotees visit this temple to worship the deity of Lord Muruga.
The principal deity of the Vadapalani temple is Lord Muruga, the Lord of Tamil. The other deities are Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvathi, and Lord Ganesh.
The literal meaning of Vadapalani is North Palani. People have a belief that a picture of Lord Subrahmanya (Lord Muruga) was brought to this place by a devotee from Palani, hence it is known as Vadapalani temple.
