Adeeswar Temple
While in Chennai, one must set out an excursion tour to Adeeswar Temple located at a distance of 9 kilometers from the city. This Jain temple is situated at Polal village on the edge of the Grand Trunk Road which connects Chennai to the neighboring southern states. It is believed that the temple was built in the 1st century BC.
Legend says Valluvar, a sub-caste of the paraiyar community live a Mylapore. They are great devotees of Jainism.
The main shrine of the temple is the Rishabhadev as well the first Tirthankar of Jainism. Followers of Jainism visited the Polal village and still a sect of Vaishnava lives in this village.
