Marina Beach
Marina Beach, the most famous beach in Chennai is aligned with the urban beach Copacabana Beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The name Marina itself is a fun to the beach lovers. Stretching over 12 kilometers this sandy beach is best for sunset view and water sports. Starting from St. George Fort in the north it expands to Besant Nagar in the south. Marina is visited for its pristine beauty, lively spirit. Marina is always dazzling with its shopsand food stalls, memorials and statues, joggers, couples, etc. It is a popular hangout for the locals and tourist. At the both ending point of the beach there are fisherman’s residences.

A number of statues of great Indian personalities and celebrities sited on the roadside add beauty to the beach. The personalities of whom statues are installed here are Mahatma Gandhi, Thiruvalluvar, Sir Thomas Munro, Kamarajar, Periyar and the Statue of Labor. There are also memorials of former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Dr. C. N. Annadurai and actor-cum politician MGR Ramachandran. The Marina Artificial Waterfall is a spectacular sight at Marina Beach towering 34 feet which costs 1.5 million Indian Rupees. One will also see an aquarium and a swimming pool in the vicinity of the beach. A light house is located on the southern end of the beach which gives a stunning view of the city.
While visiting Marina one must keep in mind that bathing or swimming is illegal. One can enjoy water sport activities, and sunset view on the golden sands of the beach is a feast to the eye.
